Agbiz elects VKP group CEO PG Strauss as chairperson
Industry body the Agricultural Business Chamber of South Africa (Agbiz) has elected PG Strauss chairperson and Lukeshni Chetty and Francois Swanepoel as his deputies during the organisation’s yearly congress on June 4.
Strauss is also group CEO of agriculture solutions VKB Group and brings to Agbiz in-depth experience in agriculture and international trade.
In turn, Swanepoel is an expert in agriculture and food systems transformation, including in his position as CEO of agriculture cooperative SSK, while Chetty is a prominent leader in South African agriculture, working as the GM of South African National Seed Organisation.
The organisation also elected Boitshoko Ntshabeleng and Tobias Doyer as steering committee members.
The Agbiz steering committee is the primary leadership body responsible for governance and strategic direction, accountable directly to the Agbiz Council.
Other newly elected member representatives include Dewald Olivier, Thomas Funke, Liesl Breytenbach, Marlene Louw and Piet Smit.
The election of Agbiz’s new steering committee marks an important milestone for the organisation as it continues to advance the interests of agribusinesses operating in South Africa and the broader Southern Africa region.
This year’s congress theme is “embracing collaboration” to reflect the importance of partnerships and collective action in unlocking growth opportunities and addressing challenges facing the agriculture sector.
